In an amazing show of support for the people, write in Presidential candidate Big Bird walked the streets today with fellow protestors. Unfortunately, his write in Vice Presidential candidate Bert stepped the wrong toe out of line. Our concern is great as it seems that accused killer George Zimmerman is the arresting office in this obvious case of police brutality against a muppet. Later, when asked about Bert's arrest, Presidential hopeful Big Bird was a bird of few words.....

I like Obama. He takes a proactive effort to fill out his March Madness brackets and make jokes about Donald Trump. When has a president been efficient enough to have the time to do all that?

At the very least, we've already seen what the current asshole can do; we're curious to what the next one has up his sleeve...

Hey look,I usually stay out of American politics threads, because I think it's varying degrees of nuts, but the way I see it he's an improvement on Bush, albeit not by much.

He gets a mixed grade in my opinion. Better by far than Bush.
In a way I am a single-issue voter. My company depends utterly on Medicaid funding, and Obama has stepped up to protect it rather than let the Republicans and Tea Partiers slash and burn what is already a pretty weak social safety net. I don't see Romney doing the same. So criticize me and my selfish interest if you want to.

Well in many ways voting to keep someone OUT of office is a far more intelligent political position that voting to get someone IN.
I have no faith that any of them, in terms of the war or internal security, personal freedoms, censorship - are doing anything but what their backroom puppet masters dictate - so if you've found a social policy difference on an issue that you care about or that affects you then voting that way makes perfect sense.
Romney is sure as shit not about to repeal the Patriot Act or take the drones out of the sky is he? And hinestly for most Americans you also need to realise that as an international figure he is far less laughable than any of the other options. Seriously Bush did so much damage to the way on which the world perceives Americans in general. And Romney would not be any better.
At least Barry is giving you a veneer of sophistication and erudition while he reams you up the jacksie - if it's any comfort at all.
And btw: Had Palin or Bachmann ever been close to office that would have been the end of your ability to command any kind of respect on the International stage.
A lot of the world doesn't mind a radical right wing dictator at all - but backwoods Hoes making pronouncements on Geopolitics when they can't find Paris on a map of Europe are considered to be a bridge too far.

I don't think the GoP actually want to win the next Presidential. If they did, they might have fielded a better list of candidates than the shower of shit they've got running.

I agree BB if they truly wanted a chance at winning they would have picked better cadidates from the get go. Now if they have Santorum run as Vp with Romney, they unfortunately might actually take the election.
At which point I would be moving to Mexico.

I agree that the Repub candidates were particularly weak this time around, but it's not like the Party can just pick whoever they want. Anyone can run, and anyone who gets media attention and poll standings will make the shortlist. We got weak candidates because Americans right now are angry and stupid (a dangerous combination), and the candidates they selected reflect that. Too few understand economics, and too many buy into the American myths and old-school fears.

But in truth they do pick who they want in that they don't have to endorse a candidate unless they want them in the running.

I can actually remember how each of the presidents handled the office as far back as Eisenhower (yeah, I was a kid, but he made an impression on me). Given the card dealt to Obama, he's done a damn good job all in all. He's had to deal with a war on two fronts, neither of which could be won, a housing market collapse, Hurricanes devastating vast area's of the country, environmental devastation and a world on the edge of economic chaos. If the US didn't take the actions they did in 2007/8 the economy of the US would be worse than Greece. As it is, you're starting to come out of the troubles.
But forget all that (most of you already have)...your only option is Mitt. Do you really want to go there?

I'll be voting for Obama, I voted for him last time. After all, what other choice do I have? I'm a woman, I depend on disability {social security} which I have paid in to all my life, and I really don't want to end up living in a theocracy disguised as "family values". I'm with Tofu, we have to vote on issues, we can't vote for the person any more. Besides, Obama's track record is far better than Romney's. I still think we need to start a "Romney was born in Mexico and his BC is faked" movement. After all, his grandfather was a polygamist, how do we know for sure his mother wasn't some furriner? Huh?
