It's all about too damn many people. The world's biodiversity is down 30 percent since the 1970s, according to a new report, with tropical species taking the biggest hit. And if humanity continues as it has been, the picture could get bleaker. Humanity is outstripping the Earth's resources by 50 percent — essentially using the resources of one and a half Earths every year, according to the 2012 Living Planet Report, produced by conservation agency the World Wildlife Fund (WWF). news.yahoo.com/report-global-biodiversity-down-30-percent-40-years-000930009.html

Don't get me started - the very thought that entered my head when i decoded the title of this thread. It's lucky my mild dyslexia made me see it at first as : keep feeding the ducks - so I can make light of it. Or I could get offensively serious about this topic. Nobody will bite the bullet and everyone spouts on about green this, eco that and Toyota Prius the other. Also why I didn't contribute to a recent oooh isn't it awful thread about sterilisation in India, when part of me was thinking - well at least someone is doing SOMETHING about it. Too many babies.

It's the people having 20 kids that are doing it.
Every other species on the planet knows when to stop breeding because resources and space are limited, when the hell are humans going to?

No thanks. I have no interest at all in those little shits. Taking care of anything that requires more effort than a cat is too much work.

Well, if humans keep it up, nature will follow it's destiny. Starvation, disease and billions of deaths will follow.
Paul Ehrlich was a prophet.

What gets me most is the "what kind of world are we leaving for our children" guilt-trips. Not my children. My carbon footprint stops when I stop.

Both of mine were accidents if it makes you feel any less hostile towards me.

Somebody needs to cram info like the OP into the heads of the religious wrong.

That's because people hate to be proven wrong, so they refuse to believe they are. Being wrong doesn't fit in their little view of the world.

Their pastors tell them to go forth and multiply. They're out breeding us. That's the problem. My sentient two and Khara's erudite three are going to need to subvert the stoopid influence of the 12 little fundies some Mormon or Pentecostal is cranking out.
Hey - someone had to post it. Might as well be me:

I am sure the Catholics were encouraged to breed to be used as slaves unless it's purely a survival mechanism, because the poor were always dying young dunno. I am convinced something sinister is going down in the eugenics department, there seems like too little are getting too much of a good thing when it comes to service. And Human rights are only available to the rich no matter what the religion.
