The local council have been replacing the streetlights round my way with light pollution combatting lighting. Eventually it could be possible for me to see the stars without having to take a stroll up Killiney Hill.
Astronomy and astrophysics are over my head(if you'll pardon the play on words),but I do so enjoy staring at the stars(even if I don't know one constallation from another) when taken by contemplative moods(read stoned).

We've been looking ion ebay and you can get quite good telescopes for about 100 (I have no pounds symbol...Grrr).
U love the stars too...we have an astronomy club that meets about 2 kms from here and theyre great..you can just go along and they will let you look through their scopes and talk to you for ages about what youre seeing.
One of the best things about living in a University town is we do have access to good shit like this.

That sounds great. There's a garish orange street light outside my house and my wanky holiday cottage neighbours have one of those insecurity lamps that goes on at the slightest excuse Despite this the stars can be very lovely here, though there haven't been many clear skies recently. I only know the Plough and Orion, but I did follow Jupiter and Venus when they appeared close to each other earlier in the year.

The streetlamp is the main trouble. It was off for a long while. Someone shot it out because it kept his chickens awake.

Cathrine McCauley, she founded the Sisters of Mercy in 1831. The Order has always been associated with teaching, especially in Ireland, where the nuns taught Catholics(and at times Protestants) at a time when education was mainly reserved for members of the established Church of Ireland.
