It's a Northern Flicker (Colaptes auratus) They get their name from their strange tail flicking in flight and on the ground, cool birds.

That's what it is. We don't see very many, we're a bit too far south for their comfort zone.

I would be laying out corn and fattening up that there turkey! That one is a hen, this time of year they need to be hatching chicks and raising them, not gracing dinner tables. Wild Turkeys are MUCH different than domestic birds, they are smart, fast, good flyers and the big Gobblers can be pretty dangerous during breeding season or if they feel threatened. The wild Turkey almost ended up being the national symbol for America!
