This is a great site for twitchers. It has links to sites where you can listen to literally thousands of bird calls from all over the world. The British Library and also the BBC have a massive collection of listen to's as well for those lucky enough to be in the UK and able to access their series, but for the rest of us ((((RP)))) and ((((Hatter)))) www.math.sunysb.edu/~tony/birds/links.html

I think this is some kind of finch, it has a red head and breast and is very small. Will try to get a better snap.

Gambols Quail, these guys are very camera shy. They have a thingy on their head that sticks up an inch or so. Still haven't seen a roadrunner though.

Holy shit, that's a big picture, but yes, they are very similar! I am slowly figuring out the zoom feature and how far to push it, lol, that shot was the best of a great many that weren't good at all!
Spooky as hell red eyes on them both.

Look forward to more pics of birds at the feeders.

Wow, that is nearly a perfect match. I was going to go with male Finch, but it's a guess.

Wow, that is nearly a perfect match. I was going to go with male Finch, but it's a guess. What a wonderful little bird. See if you can spot the female (a drab brown little number heh heh). And the characteristic flycatcher behaviour - favourite perch, short flight to catch a passing bug then back. We get the humble Spotted Flycatcher where i live (Southern Scotland). Not at all colourful but a very sweet bird, and amazing to think they migrate all the way from southern Africa to spend the Summer here. The Swallows have arrived, having made much the same journey, and the Flycatchers should be here soon.

The females are plentiful, but even more shy than the male. I've been trying to snap one for a few days.
