Help! I have a proxy called Expat Shield. It gives me a UK address - a new one - every time I log on through it. I like the UK address because it gives me access to about half of Youtube , BBC iplayer and Channel 4 On Demand - none of which are available through servers in other nations. However, since the day I installed it I have had issues with ie trying to take over my lappy. It opens windows continuously and begins playing ads underneath what I am looking at/listening too. One of the ads begins with a beating human heart and it creeps the fuck out of me - increasingly as it happens so often. Seriously. I have to stop every 30 mins or so and close about 20 ie windows - all of them demanding that I make ie my default browser. - yeah as if - even I am computer literate enough to know that's not an option. Should I trash Expat Shield and try another UK proxy or is there a way to disable ie utterly? Thank you for your time and expertise in this matter.

Dump it. You're going to end up with a ton of malware. The safest way is to join a paid proxy service.

Yeah, find a proxy that lets you use Firefox or Opera.

I'm NOT using ie. It came installed on the lappy because as my son so charmingly put it "ie is microsoft's bitch" and I have never used it as a search engine other than to download Chrome the day I brought it home.
It just keeps turning itself on.
You've got me paranoid about Malware now and I'm running a full scan.
Is Hide My Ass the best bet? I can get that for a year I think on one payment of about $60.

Hide my ass is pretty good, yes. Just be sure you're going to use it enough to be worthwhile.

What I use it for most is the UK address. So I get access to all those great things like BBC and 4OD which only the UK people get. I can even watch Coronation Street and East Enders online with a UK address.
Shitsticks - gunna have to think now.
I hate thinking!

I had to subscribe to Al Jazeera just to see it. I live in a heathen country.

Yeah yeah, i use a proxy so i can have a foreign address as well...........*shifty eyes*
Not sure if this is going to be of any help or not but in Windows there's no way you can get rid of the evil big blue e (IE). Like Windows Media Player, you cannot delete or uninstall it at all.

I've explained that you're Australian so they're not expecting much in the way of civilised behaviour anyway. Come on. Hold Stormy's hand and I shall take you there. Don't pick your nose, keep your knees apart or spit OK? I have an image here. thebluecaterpillar.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=8Walk this way (I know...if you could walk this way you wouldn't need manners, right?)
