We're getting an increasing number of them here in the North of Queensland. We always had small ones. The Aboriginal word for them is willy-willy but these larger ones are a new phenomenon.
One took out several streets in Townsville the other day. That's the same town got wiped by an inland tsunami a year ago. They've not had good meteorological luck at all lately.
