They'll take your money every day but on Sunday. They refuse to let franchise owners open on Sunday (some have tried and then lost the franchise when found out).

I think there's been some kind of moratorium called on the whole Gluttony thing.
Three out of 4 Texans are some kind of Evangelical Christian and it's the fattest state in the US, isn't it?
Seems that now it's almost a holy rite "Thou shalt make a pig of thyself".

I wanted to give Texas back to Mexico.
Mexico told me to shut up or they would put a bounty out on my head.

A purely Australian point of view is that (on the whole) America is a very religious country, while we ourselves are not so. This does not make Australia any better and I would in no way say that. However, I do feel (my own opinion) that religion really gets in the way of so many things American (such as fast food advertising apparently). You are such a foward thinking people, the rest of the world looks to you to lead the way, and you do that so brilliantly. Yet the religious side of America can seem so backwards sometimes, so fire and brimstone biblical.

LOL Frankly, though, that ad is an outrage. I had no idea they were that flagrantly obnoxious. I am rather stunned. I think it mostly stems from Rahm Emanuelle's attempts to bar Chic-fil-a from opening any new business in his town because they don't support same-sex marriage. I don't agree with Chic-fil-a, but barring them from business simply because of their politics is bull shit. It's also unconstitutional...

You are such a foward thinking people, the rest of the world looks to you to lead the way, and you do that so brilliantly. Yet the religious side of America can seem so backwards sometimes, so fire and brimstone biblical. What you are actually seeing is a scewed version of what we really are, Michelle. You are not to blame for that, I suppose we are. That aside, the term, "the squeaky wheel gets the grease" applies here. True, a large part of our population is "Christian" of some sort or another, and it's also true that they are the most vocal and consider themselves the majority. They are the majority, in context. In other words, when asked "what is your religion?" more people say Christian/Catholic than say Hindu, Wiccan, atheist or whatever. When, in fact, Christians/Catholics make up less than a third of our population, and that number is declining. The majority of us are not Christian/Catholic, the majority of us are an amazing mix of Pagan, atheist, agnostic, pantheist, naturalist and the list could go on and on. The reason behind the "religious" phenomena here is rooted in the flight from religious persecution. The original settlers came here to escape mandated religion. Too many dictatorships are based in religion, this is also why we still get, so many refugees, and legal and "illegal" immigrants. Real freedom is based on freedom of thoughts, beliefs and ideals. So, you are hearing from our loudest blowhards. But, think about it, just here on The Blue Cat you know quite a few Americans, I believe very few of us are Christian, or even religious. All I'm trying to say is, don't judge us by the squeaky wheels, most of us roll along pretty quietly and efficiently.
