A lot of people know this as a Billie Holiday tune but Nina Simone sings it far better. IMHO.
It was written by a Jewish school teacher in New York. A member if the Communist party who was eventually black listed by the McCarthy House UnAmerican Activities Committee.
No easy listening jazz standard this one. It's gruelling.
