I'll start J. Edgar with Leonardo DiCaprio. Well other than the crappy job they did of aging him, Leo did a fairly decent job of portraying the cross dressing commie hater. I made my sons watch it. They were NOT appreciative until we got to the end at which point they just looked at me and my oldest's comment was "What the fuck?" Yes, they were as honest as they could be without having the old fuckers files to go from. They admitted he deported US citizens, that he illegally wiretapped, carried unauthorized weapons and was a a complete pathological lying glory hound. It was enlightening, educational and longer than a full latin mass. christ I wanted alcohol or drugs before I was done. However, if you have teenagers, they should see this.

The Land of Blood and Honey...
Just watch it.
Have your teenagers watch it because the schools sure as fuck aren't telling them anything.
I was stunned and I was alive when this all happened.

Leonardo Dicrappyactor is kind of in my top 10 list of "Actors to avoid at all costs" There's something so all American boyish charm about him that I just want to slap him up one side and down the other.
That may well be blind prejudice on my part - I'm still having trouble accommodating the success of Titanic to my personal reality, I think.
Girl With the Dragon Tattoo is well worth seeing for the score alone (Hail Trent Reznor - a true American god) and Animal Kingdom if you havent seen it really is a nice little vignette of an Australian criminal underclass which most outside these borders seem to think cannot exist in this land of sunscreen and plenty.
Jackie Weaver, who plays the cold hearted matriarch was considered the sexiest woman in Aus in the 1970's - she was smokin' . She married more men that Liz Taylor. lol

I'm not overly fond of him myself and personally I found Titanic to be a huge bore and while the song may have been great the first 10 times I heard it, by the 100000th in a week I wanted Celine Dion's head on a platter. However, this movie is well worth the bad acting and crappy make up simply because it shows the total corruption one man was able to bring to a Federal agency from it's inception

Joel Edgerton who stars in it was a mate and colleague of Heath Ledger's and I always thought he had far more raw talent than Heath, though he lacked the boyish good looks and thus didn't make it big in the same way. That's often an advantage both personally and professionally.
Joel is still alive and making films of this quality, innee? ;D

He was maybe 16 in Two Hands and he shone. Bryan Brown who was in it with him said at the premier "this boy's going to take the world by storm." Candy is the most poignant and true to life depiction of junkie love ever committed to the screen.

Here's one from my too often watered Isle. The Guard.
I don't know that American audiences will warm to it,but it had me in stitches

Snatch. one of the few recent Brad Pitt vehicles to make use of his considerable talents and not just his impressive abs.

I would say Suck. It's a Canadian Black Comedy about a band that get turned into vampires. It's hilarious. Alice Cooper, Iggy Pop, Henry Rollins, Moby and Alex Lifeson of Rush all have roles in the film. And it also stars Malcolm McDowell as a vampire hunter. As for the other people in the film, I've never heard of any of them. (though I'm sure if you are familar with Canadian Cinema then you would have) However I know the female lead is in the television series mad men. Here's the trailer:
