The lad has one of his floozies lovely young ladies up from Sydney fro the weekend. So we met her off the train and had dinner in an Italian restaurant. We were walking along the street and I hear "Stormy!!" from behind me. Bugger me - it's my old mate Doug from a wine wholesale company I worked for about 4 years ago - he used to be a schlepp like myself and I left because the two old cows running the show were hopelessly incompetent and prevented anyone from achieving their full potential, such was the field of substandardness they projected outward from their office. He's running the show now - doing the job the two of them used to do and having increased the annual turnover by 450% in the last 18 months- and he says to me: "Where are you working?" I told him - "How much they paying you?" I told him - he says "We'll beat it by 20% - I'll ring you Monday to arrange a start date" I said "Don't I have to apply or something?" He says "Don't be fucking daft.' How cool is THAT? So now - erm - how do I go about resigning from the job I have - which I've just obtained a $50 a week pay rise in by telling the boss there I was fucking awesome and he couldn't run the place without me? Bit awkward, innit?? BQ: Why is it that sales of booze, lipstick and stockings always rise in during a Recession?

Just tell your Boss you're very sorry, but it appears you have been headhunted by the opposition, who made you an offer you couldn't refuse. (Remember to take your Client list with you before you dramatically exit)
eta; He'll understand. Or not. Either way, it's a win for you, innit?

I can arsehole Dick Dastardly now without any worries about it having adverse effects on me career path.

Doug's way cool. Nothing better than a gay boss in his early 30's. He was the best source of party drugs I've found on these shores in years for a start....and he'll tell you honestly and without any offensiveness at all when your arse looks like it's getting bigger or that colour really doesn't suit you!! LMAO

I wish. I've been trying so hard to find a new job. I've been here six years next month and haven't had a raise yet. Still on the probationary pay I was hired at. How my boss justifies paying a mother of three with two fucking BS degrees $12.17 an hour is beyond me.

The oil boon has driven the job market nuts in N.Dak. A few years ago you could rent a house for $150/mo. now efficiency apartments are going for $1500. CONGRATS ON THE JOB STORM

I made $60,000 a year in Floprida, but, I paid $1400 a month in rent so I could live somewhere we wouldn't get shot at walking to our car. Here I don't make shit, but my rent on a two bedroom house with a full basement that is partially finished (this means one side is finished and the other isn't LOL) is only $550.00 a month. Still, with three teenagers, I'm not surviving well. If the ex did his fair share..... Oh we won't go there.
