A friend of mine signed up and had dates with two women. Neither worked out, but if it helps he said both of them seemed relatively sane.

My best mate in Queensland has been on an internet dating Merry Go Round for about two and half years now. All I can figure out is she has a suppressed masochistic streak to her and this is how she gets off. OK so the first few rounds of offers garnered her: 1. A married man who was "separated" from his wife only in the sense that she was in their home on The Gold Coast supervising three teenagers while he worked 5 days a week in Brisbane. I twigged he was married from the get go but she took a lot more convincing. His wife told her. When she answered the phone because he was in the shower one day and it rang saying "Home". She believed it then. 2. Another married man who also turned out to be near the top in a pyramid selling scheme for some kind of internet marketing site. He tried to lure her into paying $5K to sign up for that on the promise of untold riches. Luckily her Dutch genealogy got her out of that one. 3. An actually divorced long haul truck driver who was a nice enough bloke apart from the fact that he was still hopelessly in love with his bipolar ex wife and dropped everything to run and do her bidding for the 12 months he and my mate were an item. 4. A neurotic doctor who appeared to write far too many of his own prescriptions. 5. Several dates to meet for coffee who never showed and never replied to texts or emails as to why not and on one memorable occasion a dinner date at what turned out to be an utterly fictional hotel in a suburb 22 kms from her home. My verdict on internet dating? I'd rather nip down the grab-a-granny karaoke bars and take me chances. No I can't bring myself to do that either. In fact I am hopeless and have simply begun resorting to long time friends for sex - most of which encounters have ended up OK apart from the bloke who got all creepy about it and stole my smalls ....and my dead ex boyfriend's best mate who appears to have fallen in love with me and that's a bit tricky as I do love him but don't love him if you know what I mean...Luckily he's at sea about 6 months of the year so it's only made half my life awkward...... and so now I just buy a lot of batteries.
