I recall the story of the philosopher and the theologian. The two were engaged in desputation and the theologian used the old quip about the philosopher being like a blind man,in a dark room, looking for a black cat-which wasn't there. ''That may be,'' said the philosopher; ''but a theologian would have found it.''
---Julian Huxley

Question: If you could live forever, would you, and why? Answer:"I would not live forever, because we should not live forever, because if we were supposed to live forever, then we would live forever, but we cannot live forever, which is why I would not live forever" ---Miss Alabama in the 1994 Miss USA contest---

"People don't kill people - Lawnmowers kill people". It's from a movie I saw, and to this day I just don't get it.

Don't think I've ever seen it. No, it was from some comedy movie in the same style as "Flying High". Or something.

"Politicians cannot help being clowns. Political activity is essentially absurd. The hopes held for it can be high, the results tragic, but the political act itself must lack dignity: it can never match our ideals of how such things should be done. This is a view that offends almost all political scientists, who are often bored by politics anyway and want to get on with something more respectable."
DONALD HORNE, The Legend of King O'Malley

"sometimes a theory is difficult to understand not because it is profound, but because it is wrong"
I might have paraphrased a wee bit.
