Nah - Asteroids is old school, tried it in it's day and it never hooked me. I'm thinking of new games and games that let me compete on-line with one of you guys or all of you. It is the only game I know and the last one I ever played.

Centipede is kind of like Snake Moley, but it had a lot of other things you had to shoot or dodge.
Rscott, computer games only or are you considering investing in a system as well?

I was thinking of getting an Xbox as well but I know the Kinect hacks work on PC's.
This is part of my gaming ignorance, I have no idea what games go to what machines, PC, PS3, Wii and Xbox. It appears Skyrim is available for all of them. Is there a preferred format by gamers?

What's proper game etiquette, buy or bootleg? **composes face** Oh no one on this website would ever in any manner advocate a pleb such as ourselves to be illegally obtaining copyrighted materials (PM the KID) as it is highly illegal and very very wrong and the poor games manufactures who are after all just huge multinational cash cows ripping us all off to kingdom come creative artistes trying hard to make an honest dollar need us to to principled about things like this . Plus you know Hatter's arse will get fined badly if we talk about stuff like that .

My kids prefer the xBox. Well, in truth, I prefer the xBox because I think Sony is a shit company and they do not let the old games play on the new systems 98% of the time even though theylied and said they would, sooooo.....
We have found that many bootleg games just freeze at a certian point every time. It makes for a pita when playing.

I can't do X-Box,the controller is very badly designed for the games I like to play,Beat 'Em Ups are completely unworkable, especially with my injured thumb.
The lack of backward compatibility on Playststion pisses me off no end,but I haven't splashed out on a PS3 yet. I visit friends and rent games if I want to play PS3.
Kinect on x-box has a lot going for it but(compared to Playstation Move) but again it's useless for combo based Beat 'Em Ups.

We have a PS3 and not a single game for it. We use it to play DVD's, BlueRays and for Netflix.

Back in the college years I played a lot of Quake, Half Life, Doom and even Wolfenstein. Never like the 1st person shooters on the consoles though; I like the better aiming dexterity with a mouse. But I haven't played anything like that in years.
We got a Wii a few years back and I've played my share of tennis and Guitar Hero on it. Hasn't been touched in months though.
But give me Sim City or Civilization and you will lose me for weeks. A year and a half ago I had to quit cold turkey from Civ4 as it was sucking me in way too deep. I don't dare buy Civ5 even though I now have a computer it would run decently on it. Yes I have accepted that I am an addict lol.

Ok RScott, and everyone. I prefer PC. Just about every game is available for PC and there are many methods of how to play them. You could use a keyboard and mouse (My preferred option, being that the mouse is easier to aim with), an Xbox Controller or a gamepad (Basically a Play Station controller normally, but there are many different types). You can also "mod" a game with content made by the gaming community.
Games also run better on PC IMO, and online you don't have to put up with a heap of racist 10 year olds who don't even know what sex they are but scream "faggot" like a homophobic machine gun. I liked the Play Station 2 over the first Xbox, I don't, however, like the Play Station 3 over the Xbox 360. PS3 is too buggy and glitchy and Xbox 360 uses alot of PC hardware.
Also, no, Skryim is not available for Wii.

Also games are cheaper to buy using Valve Softwares "Steam" which also acts as kind of MSN for gaming, you can add people, take screen shots of games and talk while playing games. It also hosts game servers.

Just to make you guys feel younger, I prefer games such as Quake, Doom, Half Life and Unreal to the shit they put out these days. Call of Duty makes me sick to the stomach. When you say Unreal, are you referring to Unreal Tournament?? I used to like Doom. It was groundbreaking. Wolfenstein was great too. Blasting shotgun pellets into the belly of a German screaming out some shit in German, probably calling me a motherfucker....FUN FUN FUN!!! Unreal Tournament is a spin off of Unreal. There is also Unreal 2. I didn't like the new Unreal Tournament as much as the other ones, Epic Software with their success with Gears of War decided they would turn it into Gears of War 1.5 without Chainsaws.

I'm a huge PC gamer. It was PC gaming which taught me everything i know about computers. I build my own and upgrade em myself. No 42 inch screen for me though, even though i do have a TV tuner card in my rig so when i'm doing stuff like Blue Caterpillar or Yahoo answers i usually have the TV on as well. That's why when Storminateacup asks "What you listening to right now?" i never have a proper answer because the box is on, not music. I do use two screens, one 27 inch @1080p and the secondary screen is 24 inches @ 1920 x 1200. I'm such a geek i like to game on my 27 inch screen and on the other, whilst gaming, is a bunch of monitoring software so i can see exactly how much work the components are doing compared to their potential and also temperatures and frames per second. When you go two screens you never go back. When i use other computers ever since i got two screens there just doesn't seem to ever be enough desktop space. The funny thing is, my computer is capable of playing the very most demanding games today on max graphics and 1080p resolution but i spend a hell of a lot of time playing a game called Jewel Quest 2 which is like a puzzle game that even the shittest computer could play in it's sleep. It's pretty addictive.
Probably my favourite game of all time was a game which really didn't sell well at all at the time. Not many people liked it but myself and a couple of mates loved it enough to set up LAN (local area network) parties where we'd all link our puters up together and go multiplayer crazy all in one room. Yeah, i'm a massive geek. Anyway, the game was an old RTS called Emperor - Battle for Dune. It's based on the book by Frank Herbert. Sadly, they've taken down the servers so if you aren't willing to LAN it up then there's no multiplayer.
My second favourite was an old game made by Microsoft. Yeah, they actually made some pretty damn good games despite being a little bit evil. The game was an MMORPG called Dungeon Siege. Many fun hours and lifelong friends made playing that game. Again, the servers for multiplayer have been pulled so the game is pretty shit now.

My friend has 3 monitors. I know Dungeon Siege, they made a sci-fi spin off, Space Siege (Similar To Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000) and I believe they made some other games too. If I have to pick out of more recent games that I play, I would have to say Deus Ex and Fallout, though the first Fallout games were released about 14 years ago or something, the new ones are quite enjoyable.
