I have a good pair of sunglasses that I used to view solar flaring last summer. I can't find them though. Because I'm now blind.

Just stumbled across this thread and i can't wait for this event either. But Storm, if you're a female then how can you possibly be 'up' for it? You're really a dude pretending to be a sheila aren't ya??
Being in Sydney we get shit views of the stars at the best of times because of the ground glow but would i be right in saying that won't be such an issue for the Transit of Venus event because it'll be in the day time and involve the sun and not the moon or distant stars?
I could go up to a mates place at Hawks Nest to see it but i don't know if this particular event will not look as good in a big city so i don't know if i should go or not. Regardless, i so wanna see it. I'm so 'up' for it. I bet Warnie is too. He's cool like that ya know?

When we were at City of Rocks there was a guy who had a sunfilter on his giant telescope, I got to see those monster solar flares. I bet he gets a damn good view of this! I just read about City Of Rocks in Niel Gaimon's American Gods(it was the scene of the battle between the old gods and the new),seems like a strange and at the same time pointless place.

It is beautiful, and one of the best places for star gazing in the country. The built an interpretive trail telling you where to look and what you should be seeing. Except for the campers there is zero light pollution. The rocks are fascinating and going among them is akin to entering some isolated strange world.

I'm so ticked off. My old boyfriend's dad is a Physics Prof at Newcastle Uni. I was going to go there and watch it all through their whizz bang scopes - now it's raining so hard I can hardly see the end of the street and there is a 30 km an hour wind driving it into your face and turning umbrellas inside out. I can't even contemplate getting to the bus stop in these conditions as I have just rung them and they're watching the kek live stream as well!!
