I think the "Zomby" genre as a whole, suffered with the release of the "Resident Evil" Movies. While they are extremely watchable films in themselves, the Industry seems to have forgotten one of the most important tropes in Zomby films, that of humour. "Oh no, we're being chased by Zombies, what should we do?" "Just walk a bit faster".
"Shaun of the Dead" is the right way to go with the Zomby genre. (Although I am very much enjoying the second series of "Walking Dead")

Agreed, Shaun of the Dead was brilliant, and I much enjoyed season 1 of Walking Dead. Season 2 seemed to take too long to go no where, though admittedly I haven't gotten a chance to see the rest of the episodes after they came back from the mid-season hiatus.

The same thing has happened with the with Vampire genre, judging by the inexplicably popular "Twilight" phenomena. When did Vampirism become a metaphor for the pointless banality of spoiled teenage angst? Joss Whedon inadvertently nudged the genre that way with the (extremely watchable) "Buffy" TV Series, but then refined it with the darker, and more syncretic offering of "Angel", and at the same time injected just the right amount of humour into the genre.
This theme was beautifully picked up by the high camp, tongue in cheek hilarity of "Blade", taking the idea of the reformed Vampire protagonist even further, by making Wesley Snipes a "Daywalker". But Twilight completely pissed all over that by making Vampires "sparkle" in sunlight. Instead of sucking blood, "Twilight" Vampires just sucked big hairy goat's balls.
"Bram Stoker's Dracula" was an excellent adaptation of the original book, and "Interview with a Vampire" was good too, for all that it had Tom Cruise in it. "Van Helsing" had it's moments too. But "Twilight" needs to be consigned to oblivion.

Yeah, sorry about that. I'm currently trying to pick a sig that won't be so actively seizure inducing, but it's hard.

I despise the entire "Twilight" bullshit.
Only movie I would add is Zombieland. That movie cracked me up.

Zombieland was excellent, tis among my favourite of the genre, along with Shaun Of The Dead.(The comedy duo Simon Pegg and Nick Frost has given us three side splitting movies,Hot Fuzz,Shaun and Paul{I liked Paul, but I may not be in the majority}. They should tackle more genres)
I liked George Romero's Dead Films: Night of the Living Dead,Dawn of the Dead,Day of the Dead,Land of the Dead etc. And of course Sam Raimi's Evil Dead trilogy.
You should stick with The Walking Dead,Tofuda. It does improve after the the mid season break, and leaves you(me) looking forward to season three.

I love zombies and vamps(not the sparkely thing with the teens and all that). However zombies should move slowly not like a race horse. Vamps should be adult males and have the need to charm the socks off ya, before they bite.

I thought a "Vamp" always refered to a girl. Can a man be a "Vamp"? And is it just me, but everytime I read a post by BB it's in Cartman's voice.

My dad and I share the biggest fear on this Abe Lincoln thing: it will be successful and spawn MORE of these types of movies: "George Washington, The Vampire Hunter" or ANY President being one. Of course, it might make sense if Jack the Ripper was a vampire hunter and all the girls killed were really vampires. Or Titanic HAD to sink because it was full of vampires. OMG!
I, personally, LOVED Buffy, (the first ep I watched was called "Witch"......appropriate, huh?? LOL) but I agree on the Twilight thing. These vampires are wimps!! Give me Angel, Spike, Dracula (his appearance in Buffy was HILARIOUS!!), Lestadt, hell even Louie!! Those are scary vampires, Edward is NOT! You are supposed to turn to DUST in the sun, not SPARKLE!!! I'll have to post some of the FB pics I've seen regarding this argument.
Zombieland was filmed here at my local themepark.........REALLY strange to walk around it now. My brother and parents LOVE The Walking Dead, I don't and at times I watch parts of it and think IDIOTS!! LOL

The only episode of Buffy The Vampire Slayer(have you noticed that if you omit The Vampire Slayer you sound like a fan) that I liked was the Dracula episode.
It's in the tradition of the horror genre that the victims/survivors are idiots that do stupid shit, like hearing noises in the darkened woods and going to investigate alone, exploring the dark house in the graveyard of a densely populated zombie infested town...at night, that sort of thing.

What I'd like to know is, how did they even come up with the idea of Abraham Lincoln as a vampire hunter? A great deal of alcohol and not just a few drugs must have been involved.
Then again, the Governor of California was a Terminator I guess.
