I wish it was that quiet here tonight. Someone in the blueberry field next to me lighting off fireworks a BIT too close to the dry woods out back. I loudly threatened to start shooting if one damn spark lit the woods on fire.......it is a bit quieter now. I'm such an anti- social bitch. Lol. I AM a bit protective of that awesome woods. The emergency scanner is crazy tonight with fireworks sparking fires all over though, and this woods sparking would be very difficult for vehicles to get to to put it out. People need to have some damn respect for the trees out there and it pisses me off when they disrespect.
OK, back to my book now- Kindle edition, it saves trees. Lol.

Thunder and rain here......it'll be quiet for a few hours and then start back up. Supposed to rain all week. I'm going to need a boat soon.

We are JUST finally drying out from bad flooding. Just in time for fireworks, lol. Above ground is dry, but if you dig down a few inches, you'll hit water. It has been very cold and wet this season, my garden just doesn't want to grow much. According to the weather forecast, we will soon be hearing more raindrops in a few more days again. I am JUST off of the shore of Lake Michigan here, and it has some really weird affects on weather. The shoreline juts inward where I am close to, so depending upon just what direction weather is coming from, we might get it, might not. Nice thing is, if there are tornadoes, they tend to hit the sand dunes, go up them, and jump right over us here and land inland!
We finally warmed up enough for fireflies tonight, I was very happy to see that. Funny, they seem to be only really hanging around my yard, the only yard that doesn't use chemicals maybe? When I walk I tend to not hear birds singing anyplace else but around my yard also.
Hearing more fireworks now, a bit further away, but they must still be in woods since that is all that is around here except for the lake being to the west.Grrrrrrrr.

I'm off work this week (BAD for the paycheck, GOOD for the psyche), but I'm back to the grindstone as of Saturday.
This baby of mine is off her schedule still, though, and will not sleep in her bed to save her life! I'm fed up. I'll put her down, let her scream, and then get her out a half-hour or MORE later, and she'll fall straight asleep, IN MY ARMS!
I don't know how I'm going to get any work done when I start up again. Ugh.

Rub whiskey mixed with sugar on her gums.

Jenne: sleep when the baby sleeps. If she falls asleep in your arms: cosleep. Just you, not any husband or boyfriend, until the baby is at least 6 months old. Nature created a way for you to sleep with half an eye open, but that takes time to develop, and you've had a 9 months head-start. And by all means, avoid letting the baby "cry it out". It doesn't teach them anything at this age, apart from accepting that mommy isn't going to be there when she's needed most.

It isn't quiet enough here. Too many cars, still louder than the birds. That's great early in the morning, when the birds wake up, but the rest of the nearby humans are still asleep. I love he sound of birds. In moderation.

There is a bird here that has over 100 calls, every morning he sits in a nearby tree and goes through a lot of them.
The volunteer coordinator wanted to make sure we were going to stay here through the winter, so looks like we are set for the next few months at least.

She's doing better--and we have never been able to let her cry it out. But she does scream when the "nipple" dislodges from her mouth at night...ugh. The child is 13 months already...time to sleep through the night!

Good to hear she's doing better!
As far as sleeping goes: nah. She'll sleep when she's ready. At her age, it's all nature.

It doesn't get awful cold here in the winter. Last winter we had 1/16 inches of snow.

That's pretty good. Our winters can get quite cold, down to 25F is normal, every now and then dipping down to 15F. For several years we had a warm spell, with our winters not even reaching 30F, but the past 3 years have been getting colder again. I hear in NJ, where my wife lives, temps regularly get down to 5F or less. And with them ocean winds, the chill factor alone scares me.

Yeah, you're going to freeze your ass off, just wait for a Nor'easter to roll in and dip down to -20.
