I've been involved in, and have observed, and asked, questions and debates on Answers regarding "The Friend Zone."
To any socially-active man, questioning its existence is like debating gravity. It would never occur to us to question it.
Yet most of the women on Gender Yahoo roast anyone who even mentions it. "Using that expression is sexist," wrote one. "It may be describing something real, but that way of looking at it is inherently bigoted."
That's ALMOST as common as "It doesn't exist. It's a male myth."
So my question is, what is SO offensive about this concept that some otherwise quite sharp people feel the need to pretend that doesn't exist?
Heck, I've even run into the male equivalent -- the buddy who says, "Nah, I couldn't date her. She's just a friend. It would be like dating my sister."
Who has NEVER seen a guy trailing after a woman who doesn't want him, desperately hoping that if he does enough for her, she'll change her mind and let him out of the Zone?

Are you really attempting to understand women?

Uh... to be honest, I think THAT is an overrated problem. Understanding my fellow humans who happen to be concave rather than convex hasn't actually been all that tough for me over the years.
I think my comprehension problem is more with Gender Yahooers lololol

Men don't have Women "Friends". Just Women they haven't slept with yet. Women may see it differently, but that's because they are Women.

Well all I know is I have a number of male friends I have had for years and since my divorce I've "known" a few of them and it hasn't done a lot to either enhance or detract from the relationships.1
I often think Yanks are really screwed up about screwing. You lot tend to place a lot more weight on it than most people in the civilised world and therefore it seems to impact upon your lives in negative ways when casual sex is engaged in between friends.
I've also noted you say "naked" when you mean not wearing a lot or covered by bits of a sheet. It's quite disappointing to hear "Naked photos of....." go look and find all the tits and arse bits are demurely covered.
I blame the Protestant founders.
Oh and btw: You can't possibly expect to learn anything from Yahoo gender Studies unless you';re researching a topic in Abnormal Social Psychology.

I'm with Eartha on this one, people read to much into sex wanting it to be more than a good time.
I have male frends, I find brutal honesty tends to nip the puppy dog following in the bud. I have no issues telling someone that they will never ever have anything but frienship from me. Those who can't handle that get cut off completely.

I have many friends, male or female doesn't matter. Since I'm married, the female friends are just friends... even before I got married most of my female friends were just friends. Heck, I'm even friends with most of my ex's.
